Overview

We're looking for a mid-level Software Engineer (3–4 years) with deep Workato expertise to design, build, and operate integrations that serve two audiences simultaneously: internal enterprise teams (Finance, Sales, HR, Customer Success) and external JAGGAER customers who rely on standard integrations with ERP, CRM, and procurement systems.

This is not a "build recipes and hand off" role. You'll own integrations end-to-end — from scoping and design through deployment, monitoring, and long-term maintenance — while contributing to the architectural standards that govern how integrations are built across the organization.

Principal Responsibilities

Integration Design & Development

  • Design reusable, modular Workato recipes following integration best practices — built for scale, not just the immediate use case
  • Build event-driven and scheduled integrations using webhooks, polling, and API triggers
  • Implement robust error handling, retry mechanisms, dead-letter patterns, and exception notifications
  • Configure authentication flows including OAuth 2.0, API Key, Basic Auth, and JWT
  • Work with SOAP and REST APIs — including WSDL parsing, OpenAPI/Swagger specifications, pagination, rate limiting, and throttling
  • Create and maintain reusable lookup tables, callable recipes, and centralized utility recipes
  • Leverage the Workato API Platform, custom connectors, and advanced formula language / Ruby scripting for complex transformation needs

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with business analysts, product managers, and engineers across Sales, Business Development, Customer Success, Engineering, and Finance to gather and refine requirements
  • Translate ambiguous business needs into well-scoped technical solutions — own the gap between a business problem and a working integration
  • Engage directly with external customer teams during integration scoping, QA, and go-live support for standard product integrations
  • Communicate integration design decisions and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

Operations, Quality & Architecture

  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing Workato workflows — proactively identify performance bottlenecks and failure modes before they affect customers
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation: recipe logic, data flow diagrams, error handling runbooks, and integration catalogs
  • Stay current with Workato platform releases, new connectors, and evolving iPaaS best practices — bring recommendations proactively
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of JAGGAER's integration architecture and the standards that govern how integrations are built, versioned, and maintained
  • Collaborate with the Agentic AI engineering team on opportunities to automate and orchestrate workflows using JAI Assist and AgentOS

Position Requirements

  • 3–4 years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining Workato integrations in a production environment
  • Strong command of REST and SOAP APIs — including WSDL, OpenAPI/Swagger, pagination, rate limiting, and OAuth 2.0 / JWT authentication
  • Proficiency in JSON, XML, XPath, and data transformation; solid working knowledge of Workato formula language
  • Proven experience integrating enterprise systems — ERP (NetSuite, Oracle Fusion Cloud, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics), CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot), or similar
  • Solid understanding of error-handling patterns, retry logic, and exception management in iPaaS workflows
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication — equally comfortable explaining an integration design to an engineer or a business stakeholder

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Workato Automation Pro I / II / III certification (Workato Integration Developer Curriculum) (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with Workato API Platform, callable recipes, lookup tables, and custom connectors
  • Ruby scripting proficiency for custom connector logic, data transformations, and formula extensions
  • Python or JavaScript experience for data processing, transformation scripts, or complementary tooling
  • Cloud platform experience: GCP, AWS, or Azure — particularly event-driven patterns (Pub/Sub, SQS, Event Grid)
  • Familiarity with procurement, source-to-pay, or supply chain business processes
  • Experience building customer-facing integration products, not just internal automation tooling
  • Exposure to agentic AI workflows, LLM APIs, or intelligent automation platforms

WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT

We're not just looking for someone who can build recipes. We want someone who thinks about integrations as a product — with real users, SLAs, and long-term maintainability.

  • You own end-to-end. You've taken integrations from requirements scoping through production monitoring — not just implemented a handed-off spec.
  • You've shipped to customers. You've built integrations that external customers depend on, not just internal tooling.
  • You think architecturally. You proactively surface design trade-offs, reuse patterns, and technical risks — before they become production incidents.
  • You thrive in ambiguity. You can drive clarity from a rough business requirement and shape the right technical approach, not just execute one.
  • You raise the bar. You leave every integration better documented, better monitored, and more reusable than you found it.
