WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

As a Principal Data Scientist, you will architect and operationalize the data pipelines, ML models, and LLM-powered agents that turn JAGGAER’s vast structured and unstructured data—spanning more than $500 billion in customer spend—into real-time, actionable insights for our customers, setting technical direction for how the Data & AI team tackles its hardest, most ambiguous problems.

Our Chief Data & AI Office (CDAO) owns the company’s data foundation and AI innovation agenda, powering new Agentic AI experiences across our Source to Pay platform. Working inside a multidisciplinary Data & AI team within the CDAO organization, you will partner with product, engineering, and customer success to ship data-driven features that eliminate friction “from every buy, every contract, every supplier touchpoint.”

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Data & Feature Engineering
• Build scalable ingestion, ETL/ELT, and feature-store pipelines across OpenSearch, Snowflake, Redshift, and Redis.
• Design semantic layers and vector indexes (Pinecone, QDrant, OpenSearch) that power retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and Agentic AI workflows.
• Model Development & Experimentation
• Prototype, train, and evaluate predictive, prescriptive, and generative models in Amazon SageMaker (plus open-source frameworks).
• Implement automated A/B tests and champion/challenger experiments; translate findings into product requirements.
• ML / LLM Ops
• Own CI/CD, monitoring, drift detection, and scalable inference for classical ML and LLM pipelines.
• Leverage Snowflake Cortex (Cortex Analyst, Cortex Search, Cortex LLM functions) to deliver governed, in-warehouse inference and retrieval alongside external ML/LLM services.
• Own cost and performance optimization for ML/LLM inference and pipelines at scale, balancing latency, throughput, and cloud spend.
• Package models and agents into reusable micro-services with Terraform / Docker / Kubernetes.
• Serve as a technical authority for ML/LLM architecture decisions across the CDAO organization, establishing best practices and standards adopted by the broader Data & AI team.
• Mentor and coach data scientists and engineers across the Data & AI team, leading design reviews and fostering adoption of best practices.
• Agentic Platform Integration
• Orchestrate multi-agent task flows using Jaggaer’s AgentOS to call JAGGAER and third-party APIs.
• Collaborate with front-end teams to embed real-time analytics and AI insights into customer-facing apps.
• Insight Generation & Storytelling
• Diagnose customer data issues; deliver visual analyses (Tableau, Superset, Streamlit, or R/Python) for executives and non‑technical stakeholders.

Champion data-driven decision-making across Product, Services, and Go-to-Market teams

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Data Science, or related field.
• 15+ years designing and deploying production-grade ML or data engineering solutions, including a track record of owning ambiguous, org-wide technical initiatives.
• Proficiency in Python (Pandas, PySpark, scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch) and SQL.
• Hands-on work with at least two of the following platforms: OpenSearch, Snowflake (including Cortex AI functions), Redshift, Redis, Pinecone, SageMaker.
• Solid grounding in statistical modeling, supervised/unsupervised ML, and evaluation metrics.
• Experience implementing data governance, access controls, and security best practices for sensitive enterprise and financial data.
• Experience with Linux, Git, CI/CD, Docker, and at least one orchestration framework (Airflow, Prefect, Kubeflow, or Dagster).
• Clear, concise communicator able to present complex analyses to senior leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to independently drive technical direction and influence decisions across multiple teams without formal authority.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior exposure to LLM fine-tuning, prompt engineering, or RAG pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, including Cortex AI functions, for in-platform ML/LLM workloads.
• Experience deploying ML services on AWS (S3, ECS/EKS, Bedrock), Azure, or GCP.
• Knowledge of procurement, supply chain, IoT sensor, or ERP data domains.
• Familiarity with Agentic AI frameworks (LangChain Agents, CrewAI, Haystack, etc.).
• Track record of hackathon wins, open-source contributions, or published research.
